Our Story
The artist sent a warning with the portrait: “Striking the glass is the final step. Do it yourself, or let me. Either way, no two are ever alike.”
He chose to do it himself — one careful strike, and the tempered glass shattered into a thousand tiny cracks, the photo beneath transformed into a mosaic of light and fracture. He’d never made anything so beautiful, or so terrifying.
“Every crack is different,” he told her, handing it over. “Like us. A little broken, and better for it.”
She looked at the portrait for a long time, at the fine web of lines running through their faces. “It’s us,” she said, “but braver.”
Some gifts are polished. This one is made of a single moment of courage — one strike, and it becomes art. For the person who loves things with an edge, give them something that broke beautifully on purpose.
